Global Independence Conference, Barcelona 2026
27 January 2026
We provided full technical production support for the Global Independence Conference 2026, held over two days at the recently refurbished Hotel Arts Barcelona, supporting 150 in-person attendees and a global virtual audience of over 450 participants. Here’s a look at what we got up to on site.
The event was centred around a single plenary space featuring a 3.6m-high, 30m-wide bespoke four-screen set backdrop, with branded lightboxes and graphic-wrapped panels, brought to life using a combination of LED lighting. The set was finished in light grey, with darker stepped panels introduced to add depth and allow for subtle architectural lighting accents. An 8m × 2m Revo stage with black drape fascia sat in front of the set, complemented by a glass-topped lectern, twin comfort monitors with custom surrounds, and a discreet crew surround to keep technical infrastructure out of sight.
Audio was designed specifically for the room, with a 12-way digital radio microphone system using DPA headsets, mixed via an Allen & Heath SQ5 and delivered through high-fidelity Nexo speakers, supporting multi-presenter sessions, VT playback and virtual contributors.
Video content was delivered across four rear projection screens powered by quad 8,000-lumen Panasonic projectors, controlled via Blackmagic Constellation matrix switching from main control. A two-camera livestream, combined with integrated live polling and Q&A, ensured remote audiences were fully engaged throughout the programme, helping to blur the lines between in-person and virtual attendance.
It was great to be back in Barcelona, proving once again that with the right technology and a stunning venue, the distance between in-person and virtual audiences can completely disappear.
