Live in Venice
At first sight, staging a conference in Venice is a daunting proposition! Why? Because it’s Venice and there are no roads! So how did we transport our set, stage and equipment to the Hilton Molino Stucky for a Global Financial Services Tax Directors’ conference? Fortunately the Venetians have had over a thousand years to get used to this sort of thing and our lorry simply drove onto a large barge and was shipped to the hotel, where it moored alongside. Shiver me timbers! Here it was unloaded in 35 degrees of sunshine. Nessun problema!
The conference took place on June 8th to 10th and the theme was Emerging Tax Issues from Global Realignment. We provided an attendee registration website, set design, lighting, sound, projection, video recording and on-site editing. The audience participated using our new voting system.
In November we return to the same hotel for a larger event for the same Client.

Conference in Rome
Not only was our conference in Rome a great success - serving over 300 delegates in the luxurious Rome Cavalieri Hilton Hotel that over-looks the city - we also had an opportunity to test out our new Sony XDCAM EX. We spent the best part of a day travelling around to famous landmarks and capturing shots of this wonderful city. Thankfully, we picked a clear, sunny day and the footage looked fantastic!
Aston University Video
Cypher Media have recently completed a video shoot and edit for Aston University's Residential Services. Working with Method Design the goal was to produce three flash-based videos for use on the web to promote the Aston University Campus, the Residences and Birmingham City.

Our new Sony PMW-EX1 High Definition, solid state camcorder is here! With 1920 x 1080 and 1280 x 720 HD recording capability, plus flash memory recording.
This breakthrough product uses a newly developed "SxS PRO"™ memory card as its recording media and offers cost effective long form recording coupled to nonlinear capabilities such as instantaneous random access and high speed file-based operation. Equipped with two SxS PRO memory card slots, the camcorder can record up to 140 minutes of HD footage using two 16-GB SxS PRO memory cards.

Cypher Media has just invested in a new powerful Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop for our upcoming on-site video editing needs. Coupled with our new XDCAM EX and Avid Liquid, this enables us to quickly and easily edit in full high definition at our events and produce opening and closing videos for our clients.
Blu-ray wins the day!
The high definition DVD battle is over, and the winner is Blu-ray - which will now become the industry standard.
Sony's Blu-ray and Toshiba's HD DVD were introduced in 2006 but having two incompatible formats caused confusion and meant that the consumer was reluctant to purchase an expensive and potentially redundant bit of equipment to add to the pile already sitting under their TV. Blu-ray's victory has cleared the way and we expect a considerable increase in the demand for our programmes to be delivered in this high definition format.
There is no discernable difference in quality (unless you wear a white coat for a living and have access to some very sophisticated equipment) and Blu-ray players are readily available. As we already shoot in HD, we welcome this outcome - simpler for us and simpler for the client.
Video
Video is the most complete and powerful artificial communication medium in the corporate toolkit. We usually shoot in High Definition (Sony XDCAM HD) but can deliver in any format. We have several edit suites; one desktop Avid Liquid and two further Avid Liquid Laptop portable systems for onsite editing at events and conferences. Our latest addition is powerful 8-core Apple Mac Pro with Final Cut Studio 2 HD.
